Storage & cooking tips
Choose firm apples that are free of bruises and gouges. They should have a fesh (not musty) smell. Bown streaks, called scald, don't affect the taste.
Store in a plastic bag in the refridgerator away from strong-smelling foods, so that the apples don't asorb those oders. Properly stored apples have a shelf life of up to 6 weeks.
To keep cut apples from browning, dip into a solution of one part lemon juice and three parts water, or toss with vitamin C-fortified 100% apple juice.
