Barefoot Cellars Winery
Jen Wall
In 1991, Barefoot Winemaker Jen Wall, a California native, started learning her winemaking skills on the job while taking enology classes at night. During the harvest of 1995, Jennifer began her career as the winemaker for Barefoot Cellars Winery. At that time, Barefoot Cellars was only producing 4 varietals: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and White Zinfandel. That year ended with Barefoot Cellars Winery selling 140,000 cases. In 1996 and 1997 Zinfandel and Merlot were added to the line-up, and in late 1998, one year before the millennium celebration, the Barefoot Bubbly wines were introduced. This past year Pinot Grigio joined the roster.
Jennifer continues to be the sole Winemaker for Barefoot Cellars, which now ships over 600,000 cases annually to 48 states in the union as well as 16 international destinations. She has received over 1500 medals for her wines, including many Gold and Double Gold medals. In 2002, she received the outstanding rating of Double Gold, Best of Class and 98 points at the California State Fair for her California Chardonnay and in 2004 she was awarded the Best of Show award at the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience for her Alexander Valley Merlot.
