Ingredients

  • 6 slices 7-grain or whole-wheat bread, 1/2-inch thick, halved
  • 1 (5.2-oz.) pkg. spreadable herbed cheese
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced into thin rings
  • 1 avocado, pitted, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups alfalfa sprouts
  • 3/4 cup shredded provolone cheese

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high (350°F to 400°F). Place bread on grill; toast one side 30 seconds or until grill marks appear. Remove bread from grill.
  2. Spread 2 tablespoons of the herbed cheese on the grilled side of each half-slice. Top 6 half-slices with tomato, onion, avocado and sprouts. Sprinkle evenly with provolone and season with salt and pepper to taste. Top each sandwich with 1 half-slice.
  3. Place sandwiches on grill. Grill, covered, over indirect heat 3 to 5 minutes or just until cheese melts. Serve immediately.
