Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 (28-oz.) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (8-oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 4 Roma tomatoes, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 to 2 tbsp. dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 8 oz. linguine or spaghetti

  1. In a large skillet heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook, stirring, about 3 minutes or until onion is tender. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Roma tomatoes, basil, oregano, and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, 15 to 20 minutes or to desired consistency, stirring occasionally.
  2. Meanwhile, cook pasta al dente according to package directions. Drain. Serve with tomatoâ??basil sauce.
