- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour an 8x8x2-inch baking pan. Set aside.
- For brownies, in a medium saucepan cook butter and chocolate over low heat just until melted, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in sweetener and flour. Add eggs and vanilla; stir until smooth. If desired, stir in nuts. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan, then cut into 1-inch squares. Set aside.
- Meanwhile, in a large bowl whisk together milk and pudding until thick. Fold in half of the whipped topping. Let stand 5 minutes or until set.
- In a large trifle bowl alternately layer pudding mixture, brownies, remaining whipped topping and fruit. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.
